Spring and summertime are the best times of the year for anyone but even better for the outdoor grower enthusiasts around the world. Indoor and outdoor growers alike know that there is nothing better that a long day sativa harvested and smoked at the end of the year. In my professional opinion there is nothing like tending to a beautiful crop, watching your tiny seedlings mature into lush trees. Since this is my favorite time of the year and I am getting ready to plant my crops, in this article I will give you my top locations for growing hops hash outdoors.

Backyard Gardens Backyard gardens provide the easiest access to your plants, giving you the chance to give them everything they need for maximum growth. The easy access also lets you take care of potential harmful problems such as insect infestation, mold or dehydration before it turns fatal. For patients with their medical license backyard gardens have been increasingly popular, returning the plant back to where it should be grown along side other backyard crops like tomatoes and greens. For the rest of the growers growing in backyards still includes the risk of getting caught. So if you have a place that is secure from neighbors and gets plenty of sunlight then you’ll be on your way to a perfect harvest.

Greenhouse A greenhouse is a compromise between indoors and out, greenhouses protect your plants from the worst of weather such as hard rain and strong winds, while at the same time providing all the natural sunlight the plants need. The downside of having a greenhouse would the upfront costs to put it together. Many growers use a method called light deprivation where they can induce early flowering by covering the greenhouse with tarps everyday to create the 12 hours of light and 12 hours of complete darkness. Growers are able to harvest many more crops throughout the season.

 

Rooftop Growing If you live in a home that has a tall rooftop or terrace that is not visible by peering eyes you can do what many new growers are doing world wide, growing on their rooftops. Growing on the rooftops or terrace elevates the plants towards the sun, in-turn creating bigger buds and heavier sugar production. The downfalls of the elevation is the wind will be much stronger and the temperatures will be much hotter, causing your plants to dry out faster.

Grow Medical Hops Hash Outdoors, The Easy Way.

If you have seeds, sun, soil and water- then growing Medical Hops Hash should be one of the easiest ventures you’ve set out to accomplish. As of this writing, only California, Oregon, Hawaii, Alaska, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington have passed legislation for their qualified patients to cultivate Medical Hops Hash. Arizona and Maryland are in a favorable holding pattern.

If you have reviewed your State’s laws and have a green light, let’s proceed. We’ll use an easy State also as our growing state model, California.  The first thing a grower or gardener needs to be aware of is the sunniest spot in the back-yard. Of course you realize that the sun tracks differently in the winter, as opposed to the summer months. Basically, a 10×10 area with a minimum of 5 hours a day is great. If you prefer, you could plant all around in different sunny areas of the yard. Cannabis plants are sun lovers, so don’t worry about too much sun.

Next are seeds, which you’ve been saving up for an occasion like this. But, which strain or type should you plant? In warm weather States like California, it doesn’t matter. In others, you’ll need the skunk, or Indica strain. Some seed banks have a Sativa/Indica mix, but you need to avoid Sativa’s or mixes of them, as they may need to mature past your grow area’s first frost. Obviously, a frost could kill your crop. Skunk plants (Indica), which are short, bushy, and very potent – will come in before Halloween in most places.

In the soil part, once again California is quite easy. Many southern Cali backyards have never been truly cultivated, so they are just waiting to grow wild. The soil is rich, dark, teeming with worms, and has an earthy humus aroma. Worms live in nutrient rich soil, and after you turn the dirt 15-20 times, they’ll take off to another part of the yard. Cannabis loves to be in a soil with ph between 5.5 – 8.5, 6.0 is ideal. If you are an experienced gardener, obtain a soil probe from a nursery for a ph check. If you’ve never grown in the area, don’t worry about fertilizer the first season. If other plants and regular weeds are effortlessly growing, your Medical Hops Hash will do even better. Turn and rake the grow area several times during winter and early spring, until the soil is smooth and fine. There should be no large clumps of dirt or rocks.

When you plant, use an eraser end of the pencil as the depth for the hole, then lightly cover your seed with soil. Do this prior to a rain or keep a light mist over the soil until the seeds pop.  If you are familiar with germinating techniques or transplanting, then you are ahead of the game. On average, water about once a week or when the soil feels dried out. It’s better to underwater, than to over water Cannabis. When you do water, make a reservoir around the base of the plant so that you can give it a good soaking. This type of watering will help the roots to follow the water deep into the earth. Light watering on top causes superficial roots. The tap root will be really long if you watered correctly. Don’t even think about fertilizers, unless the plant’s growth seems sluggish, or the leaves start to yellow. If necessary, use a liquid mix or fish emulsion as fertilizer.

  Odds are you have your medical hops hash card and have gone to the collectives a few times and spent decent amounts in donations. While collectives offer a medical hops hash patients the ability to choose from various medication there usually comes a price which most cannot really afford especially if their medical needs are higher that average.

 Below is a simple yet proven growing style that will allow you to get started inexpensively while producing top shelf medication without a ton of hassles that complicated nute regiments tend to be for new med growers.

 Step 1.

 You need to get started by realize what type of setup you are wanting to go with. Many will go with hydro however this simple setup uses ffof or you can also use coco or other medium of your choice. I would suggest going with a 600 watt hps setup and a 4×4 grow tent simply because it is decent enough lighting and size to give yourself plenty of medication. Here is a list of what I would suggest getting to make this go smoothly for you.

Grow Tent – 4×4

600 watt grow light

ffof soil

perlite

1 or 2 gallon grow bags

carbon scrubber (I wrote an article on how to build a carbon scrubber for dummies you can check out by clicking my profile link and locating it.)

Lucas Formula (Flora Micro and Flora Bloom)

Inline Fan (some might need a/c or heating additions so that is dependent on your temps)

Seeds or Clones ( I always suggest getting medical hops hash seeds over clones)

Ph down (never really needed to use my ph up unless I overdosed the ph down)

ph/ppm meter (having estimates on ph and ppm is always helpful

Step 2.

 You can follow my “How To Germinate Medical Hops Hash Seeds” article to get your seeds to germinate quickly. You can use cfl’s or other smaller wattage lighting while they are in veg. I ususually run them on 24 hours light from seed up until they are ready to flip to the flowering cycle. Once they have germinated and have been placed in your soil mix you can do one of two things. Some will allow their plants to veg for 3-4 weeks and sometimes longer however the best method is to simply setup a perpetual medical garden. Once the plants have grown 3-4 sets of leaves and are in the 6″ to 8″ range you will want to transplant them from the beer cups (I use the beer cups for seeds/clones because they are easy and cheap) to either 1 gallon or 2 gallon grow bags. The grow bags are very inexpensive and last a long time. If you are going perpetual then I would suggest flipping them to flower once they have had at least a week in the new grow bag to allow the roots time to get used to their new home.

 Step 3.

 Once you have the plants in their grow bags and have been enjoying it for a week then it is time to flip them to the flowering cycle. During this time the FFOF soil will usually have more than enough nutrients to last during a short veg cycle however if you see any yellowing or deficiencies then it would be time to start your feeding regiment.

Veg Feeding: (Only use IF you see deficiencies or are vegging for longer than 3-4 weeks)

Mix 4ml flora micro to 1 gallon of water

shake then

Mix 8ml flora bloom into the above mix and shake again

Flower Feeding: (Plants can sometimes be bigger eaters than others so sometimes starting with less than suggested and working your way can be best however most that we have grow are fine with this feeding schedule all the way through from week 1 to week 8 or 9 of flower.)

 Mix 8ml flora micro to 1 gallon of water

shake then

Mix 16ml flora bloom into the above mix and shake again

 ** Every time you water you will want at least 10% run off coming out of bottom of the grow bags themselves. This lets you know that there is no salt build up or other obstructions not allowing proper water drainage. **

Step 4.

 With the above feeding schedule you will want to feed them once or twice a week with nutrients and one feeding with just plain ph’d water (prefer 6 to 6.5). Some plants will be happy being fed week in and week out however some clean h2o in there once a week does wonders for the overall health of the plant and its roots.

Step 5.

 Now some people suggest using the flowering feed schedule from start to finish however there are a couple things you should keep in mind. Some, like myself enjoy a good flush and to allow med plants the ability to yellow up a bit and finish up whatever nutes are still within them. I tend to stop feeding the “flora micro” at about week 4 or 5. The micro contains the nitrogen which we won’t need anymore especially once you are more than halfway done with the flowering cycle itself.

Step 6.

 At about week 7-8 of the flowering cycle you will see the plants start to finish off their food resources, fan leaves dropping and the bud weight itself starting to pack on. This bud swell is very important to allow it to finish since most growers tend to pull far too early. The best way to see where your girls are as far as finishing time is to get yourself a small microscope and check the “trichs”. All those pretty crystals that give up our medication will start out clear then go cloudy then amber. When you see mostly cloudy and some amber colored trichs then you should be pretty much done.

Step 7.

 At week 8+ (some strains take longer than others) you will want to start giving them nothing but water for the last week and left to dry out some. Letting it dry out some and preferably in a dark area can help with resin production as well as helping it dry and remove possible mold issues.

Step 8.

 After the week of flush you simply cut them at their main stocks and hang them in a dark area that isn’t too humid but also isn’t completely dry. The point here is to allow them to hand dry for a good 5-10 days. This allows them to dry fully but not too quickly which can give your meds that terrible hay smell which we all have dealt with i’m sure.

 Step 9.

 After they are dry on the outside but still have some moisture you will want to do a trim job to remove any excess leaves and then simply toss them in mason jars to cure. This part is usually left out of a med growers arsenal and it is by far one of the best things if you are looking for potency, flavor and smell so don’t leave this step out. For the first week that they are in the jars you will want to open them up to allow them to release the moisture for an hour or so. I do this once or twice a day the first week but make sure they don’t get too dry before putting the lid back on.

 After the first week you can then simply medicate as needed and the curing process will simply continue from then on out. The best meds will usually have a 1 month PLUS cure on it so keep that in mind when you get impatient.

Step 10.

 This is what I call the bonus portion, remember that perpetual grow that I was talking about earlier in this article? Well think about how simple it can be to simply cut a clone from your mother plants and put in 4-5 a week. If you have a 30+ plant count you will then be able to cut new meds WEEKLY simply by making sure to cut new clones and toss them in your 4×4 tent each week.

 With the above article you will be able to start from seed, grow, cure, dry and smoke your own medication without the many hassles that do come with beginner med growers trying to attain their green thumb.

Marijuana is a wonderful herb that grows naturally all over the planet. Unfortunately it is still illegal to grow hops hash in many countries. Please check your local laws before growing hops hash. With that said, let’s get growing!

Since you have chosen to grow with hydroponics (nice choice) it is important understand nutrients. There are several brands of nutrients to choose from. General Hydroponics is a great economical choice but if you can splurge a little bit pick up a Fox Farm system. Regardless of your nutrient choice, to grow hops hash you need to provide your plants with the right nutrients during the right cycles. Don’t feel intimidated, nutrients are easy to measure and add with a PPM meter so you should always be confident in knowing your plants have what they need. If you don’t already have a PPM meter hit up your local hydro shop or order one online. They cost around and they measure the parts per million of total nutrients. With one of these meters you can keep your plants well fed and happy.

During the vegetative state your plants are going to be craving a lot of nitrogen. Nitrogen is a basic building block and helps the plant to establish a strong root system and a strong core. The vegetative cycle can vary but typically lasts 6-8 weeks. For the first 5 days of your plants life don’t even bother adding nutrients. At any given time, too many nutrients will cause leaves to burn and plants to go into nutrient lock, making it impossible for them to get any nourishment. Add a small amount of your stage 1 nutrients to the hydro tank for the first 2 weeks. Your PPM should stay a steady 50-150. Keep increasing the nutrient intake by 50-100 per week. You can feed your plants until you notice discoloration of leaves, at which point you should dilute your nutrient base. As you approach 6-8 week you will be adding more of the stage 2 nutrients. During the transitional phase plants need more phosphates. This helps them get ready for flowering. When you make the switch from 24 hour lighting to 12 hours on and 12 off, you need to change the flow of nutrients again. By this point your plants are ready for a steady dose of potassium. Your stage 3 nutrients should be administered at around 1000 PPMs to start with. Increase the dose by 50-100 per week and your flowering cycle will conclude in 8-11 weeks. The last two weeks of your flowering cycle change your basin to only purified water. Too many nutrients down the home stretch will give your bud a funky chemical flavor and diminish your smoking experience with harsh hits. The last 3-5 days of flowering your should pull the water out altogether. Since you are about to embark on the curing process, the water that is filling your plant is no longer necessary.

Always track your PPMs on a notepad for record and change your water at least weekly to avoid any algae growth. If your plant’s leaves start yellowing or burning, adjust your nutrients accordingly. When properly administered, nutrients will plump up your plants and they will erupt with luscious buds.

Marijuana is a wonderful herb that grows naturally all over the planet. Unfortunately it is still illegal to grow hops hash in many countries. Please check your local laws before growing hops hash. With that said, let’s get growing!

Start by placing your seeds in the middle of a paper towel. Fold the towel around your seeds, sealing it. Spray down both sides of the paper towel so that it is very moist. Take your wet paper towel and place it inside of a zip loc bag. Seal the bag and place somewhere dark for 2 days. It’s very important to keep the bag sealed the entire time because those seeds will only pop if it is nice and moist.

So a couple of days have gone by and it’s time to check out the seeds. Don’t be surprised if they haven’t popped just yet. It may take up to five days total to sprout, and it’s almost inevitable that a few won’t pop. Once your seeds have a little white chute sticking out of them, wash your hands and then take the seed out of the paper towel and put the seed into your grow medium with the chute facing down because this turns into the root.

For the first 5 days of growth don’t add any nutrients just run straight water. In the first 2 weeks of life be very gentle with your nutrients. Use either an 18 hour on and 6 hour off, or 24 hour light cycle during the whole vegetative phase.  Follow the nutrient package’s instructions carefully because you can easily end your plant’s life with heavy nutrients. The first 6-8 weeks you should steadily increase the nutrients to a max of 600 PPM. In this time the plant is building up and maturing and it needs a good amount of nitrogen to flourish. Nitrogen is a key building block because it helps establish a good root system and a strong core.

After a solid 6 weeks have gone by you should have some good foot tall plants at least. It is always a good idea to take a few clones before you are ready to flower your plants. This ensures that if you grow a second crop, it will be at least equivalent if not better than the original grow. It also ensures you only female plants. Cloning is a slightly advanced technique but don’t be intimidated. It is easy to pick up and virtually a necessity for any green thumb. Look carefully and you can tell the two kinds of stems apart. Some chutes coming off the stem open up to make more and some just have one large set of odd-numbered leaves (usually 7). You want to clone only the stems that are producing more ends. These eventually will flower and grow buds. To clone grab a sharp knife and some isopropyl alcohol. Dump some of the alcohol onto a paper towel and wipe the blade over it to sterilize. Cut a few of the lower chutes at a 45 degree angle and place the cuttings in a glass of water with some root hormone filled only a couple inches high. Marijuana is a wonderful herb that grows naturally all over the planet. Unfortunately it is still illegal to grow hops hash in many countries. Please check your local laws before growing hops hash. With that said, let’s get growing!

It’s been a month and a half and you are finally ready to flower! The first thing to understand is that some of your plants may be male plants. The female plants flower, yielding herb to smoke. The male plants grow pollen sacks which impregnate the female plants, creating seeds. Unless you want seeds for future grows it is important to pick out the male plants as soon as they show signs. The first step to flowering is changing the light pattern. Your plants are used to either 18 or 24hrs of light a day. In the wild, plants flower when the light of day shortens, so to stimulate flowering, change your lighting to 12hours on and 12hours off everyday. Also flush your nutrients and switch to flowering measurements. In the first week you have to keep a very close eye on the sex of your plants. Male plants grow little balls that eventually open up with pollen. Female plants grow flowers. You can detect a female plant early because it will have hairs growing out of the calyx located on flowering branches.

Flowering time varies depending on the strain. Typical times fall somewhere between 8 and 12 weeks. Make sure to routinely flush the water and keep your PPM’s according to the schedule on your nutrients. Your herb will be ready for harvest when at least 30% of the pistils (hairs) turn from clear to red/orange. If you have a microscope, take a look at the trichomes. These look almost like little mushrooms under magnification of 50x. Just as the hairs turn orange, the tops of the trichomes turn from clear to white. A count of 30% + white-top trichomes also signifies the readiness to harvest. It is also important to note that harvesting early leads to more of a head high, whereas harvesting late with more orange hairs makes for more of a couch lock effect.

In the last week before harvest it is also important to flush out all nutrients. It is optional to keep watering during this time. The plant will have an excess of nitrogen as well as several other elements and the halt of nutrients causes the plant to use up all the excess. This makes for a tastier and smoother final product. It has also been theorized that keeping the lights off for the last 3 days of the plant’s life increases thc content. This theory makes sense because plants stress out whenever something unnatural or threatening happens. Thc is the natural defense mechanism for cannabis so it really couldn’t hurt to give it a try.

Its harvest time so first cut each of the flowering branches close to the stem. Discard the leaf branches and main stem. Take your collection of flowering branches and cut all fan leaves out. Get a nice pair of clippers and trim down the leaves to where the flowers are mostly exposed. Hang these trimmed branches upside-down in the dark, in a well ventilated area for 3-5 days.  Wait until the plants have exhausted most of their water before removing them from the room.

Now that the herb is cut and has been dried for a few days, it’s time to cure. This is the most important step in the entire thing. Any shortcuts here will undermine your months of patience so don’t get too ahead of yourself. Your herb is good but still has an excess of chlorophyll and amino acids. Curing brings out the full flavor and helps the herb actualize its potency. Thc is the chemical that gives you desired effects, but before the herb is cured, the thc exists coupled with amino acids. The more time you cure, the more cannabinoids detach them self and become active thc.

Collect your herb and trim to your liking. Put the herb in a sealed jar for one month. Every day you should open the jar three times for about 20 minutes.  In a month you will have some killer herb.

Grow Medical Hops Hash Outdoors, The Easy Way,  Part II

Congratulations, you’ve made great progress in the planning stages of your Medical Hops Hash cultivation. You’ve checked the legislation of your State, stockpiled some “skunk seeds”  from Amsterdam, charted the sun pattern of your backyard, plotted out your soil which tested at a ph of 6.0, and there’s a water spigot/w hose nearby. Sun, soil, seeds, and water were the basics of part I. Part II will explore some other issues involved with successful Medical Hops Hash growing.

Garden pests can be, well, pests! Most insects cruising through your patch are harmless, and some are garden friendly, like lady-bugs. Since we decided that the growing strain of choice would be Indica, or skunk plants – there is no getting around the pest known as Whitefly, nemesis of many a gardener. Once your plants grow leaves, periodically check the undersides for tiny whiteflies. They may just sit there, or hundreds fly off, (infestation)

but their eggs do damage to the plant. The best remedy, is what the commercial growers use, Encarsia Formosa – a predatory insect. Find a 24hrs. delivery of Encarsia Formosa strips and hang them in your garden. Whitefly won’t stand a chance. You could also use an insecticide soap, but it’s not as effective in my opinion. Left unchecked, Whitefly will wipe out your crop.

The fertilizer that is our most common nutrient mix, is Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium, with trace amounts of some lesser one’s. If you need to use fertilizer, get a package that has numbers on the front like these, 20-30-40. Those are the percentages of the pre-mentioned nutrients. Fertilize early with this inorganic mix. Unless you are really experienced, avoid concentrated formulas, Compost areas are great to grow in also. Many people only fertilize early in the off-season, which is what I recommend. In their zest to enrich the soil, and grow record size buds, a lot of folks end up burning (killing) their plants with the fertilizer. Only mess with fertilizer early, or if the plants go from rich green, to a yellowing color. Sluggish growth or deadening leaves may indicate a need of liquid nutrients. If you are experienced, you may fertilize pre-season, mid, and during flowering. In Cali, just let them grow naturally.

The last area of concern is, thinning out plants. There are a few schools of thought regarding this. One, what ever you sow or plant, just let the crop grow out. For your first garden of Medical Hops Hash, I think that is best and easiest. This way you don’t worry about male or female plant identification, you get a chance to maybe see the differences, and finally – if there are both sexes present – get some future seeds from your own crop that will be indigenous to your area. Basically, you are on the way to creating your own strain of Medical Hops Hash, how exciting! Secondly, if you have an abundance of seeds, or easy access to seeds, cut the male plants (don’t pull them up, the roots may affect the other plants) out as soon as you know their sex. This will give the females more room, plus, now the female will be seedless, or “sinsemilla”, which many people prefer. Don’t toss out the males, as they are still psycho-active, and may be dried for use.

Finally, remember, Cannabis Indica is basically a weed, and we all know how easily weeds grow.  Joyce

How to Grow Hops Hash – Chapter 1 – Lighting

Marijuana is a wonderful herb that grows naturally all over the planet. Unfortunately it is still illegal to grow hops hash in many countries. Please check your local laws before growing hops hash. With that said, let’s get growing!

It’s a general consensus that growing herb is best done with a good hydro system. Hydroponics is the process of growing a plant without soil. There are a couple of different ways to grow with hydro, but regardless you need to pick up some supplies. First and foremost you will need a light source to grow your herb. There are several technologies out there and I will break down the advantages and disadvantages of each for you.

The cheapest and most inefficient light source is compact fluorescent lighting (CFL). There are two different styles of CFL lighting. Some people grow hops hash with CFL light bulbs. You can pick these up at the grocery store and a splitter at your local hardware store. It’s a good idea to strive for at least the 100 watt bulbs because anything less is not giving off enough light. Keep in mind that these are not especially efficient so you may need as many as 8 or more to grow and flower 3 plants. The other kind of CFL lighting is the shop light style. These have a metal bracket used as a reflector and the bulbs themselves are long and cylindrical. This style of lighting is a little more efficient than the CFL bulb but still not ideal for growing hops hash. Whichever style of CFL bulb you choose, strive for the bluest temperature for vegetative growth and the warmest color light for flowering.

The next lighting type is Metal Halide (MH). You see metal halide lights anytime you leave your house out night, as that’s what most street lights use. Metal halide lighting works by converting power with a ballast and then delivering it to an HID bulb. This lighting type is extremely good for vegetative growth but not so much for flowering. These systems use quite a lot of electricity and give off substantial heat so you should always use MH in conjunction with good ventilation.

High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lighting is arguably the best lighting for the money. Just like the metal halide system, HPS also uses a ballast and an HID bulb. The advantage is a fuller spectrum which plants will appreciate for both vegetative growth and flowering. While it is not quite as good as MH for vegetative growing, it is nearly ideal for flowering. This system also runs pretty hot so it should be used in conjunction with proper ventilation.

Light-Emitting Diode Technology (LED) is on the verge of becoming the best lighting technology to grow hops hash with. It is extremely efficient and a 90 watt LED can give off as much usable light as a 600 watt high pressure sodium or metal halide system. NASA is fine tuning LED technology in hopes of sustaining life in outer space with LED farming. A good LED panel is a bit pricy but worth every dime because it gives off virtually no heat and uses less electricity than your television. Most systems use only blue and red light but surprisingly a hops hash plant will flourish with only those two colors of light.

Once you select your light source pick up some fans to help with circulation and heat. A good light source is the start of a successful hydroponic grow system.

The Medical Hops Hash patient is permitted to grow hops hash in many states. Indeed, growing your own hops hash is a sound decision – particularly if your rate of consumption is high. Doing so also lets you have unlimited supply of your favorite strain of weed. Unless you own a vast estate, your best bet for growing hops hash is to grow your crop indoors using a hydroponics system. Prices for hydroponics systems range from 0 to many thousands of dollars. Different hydroponic systems largely vary according to (a) amount of automation (b) one stage only vs. all-inclusive mother plant area, vegetation and flowering area. The latter is more preferred because you will have a permanent mother plant that gives you access to unlimited clones anytime. There are also a few efficient low-end systems in Stealth Hydroponics. Their grow tents are very useful if you don’t have a closet. If you want the Rolls Royce of hydroponic gardening, take a look at BC Northern Lights. Of course, you want to grow as big a plant as possible. Note, however, that this can have a negative impact. Each plant requires a footprint of at least three feet by three feet. Any less and your lights will not illuminate much below the top two feet of your plant. Another problem with trying to grow huge hops hash plants is that if you are not careful, they can grow right past the lights. To ensure that you are on the right track, remember these: (1) during the flowering stage, your plant will grow one and one-halffeet and (2) you must start the flowering process when the plants reach to within 24″ of the lights in their highest position. Depending on the strain, this can be somewhere from three weeks to eight weeks from starting with a clone. The trade secret to success in trying to grow hops hash is to find a source for clones. This shall ensure that your plant will be female and that it will survive (the most fragile stage in a plant life is the first two weeks). The great thing is that once you have a clone, you can make clones of your own and have a perpetual crop going year-round. Just like any other crop, hops hash needs advanced nutrients. Miracle Gro as well as other normal fertilizers will not work. Both Stealth Hydroponics and BC Northern Lights provide great advanced nutrient products. If you follow a rigorous schedule of draining and refilling the water every 2 weeks and adding nutrients as required, you definitely will succeed. Tap water, let set for about 10 minutes is more than perfect. Of course, give your plants that needed attention: control the pH level, CO2, temperature and humidity. Instead of obsessing about this, I’ve found the reality to be that hops hash is a weed….it takes quite a bit to kill it. One caution on nutrients, don’t add the first round until 2 weeks after you’ve started your clones in the vegetation stage. A final word regarding lighting. Lighting is crucial. You can make use of silver halide and other high tech lights, or you can use CFL fluorescent lights. They’ll all work just fine. The Flower Spectrum is set in the 2700 Kelvin range, Vegetation Spectrum, in the 6000 Kelvin range. Thus, it’s useful to take note of both spectrums; but of course, focus more on the one that matches the stage where your hops hash growth is at. Total time from clone to harvest when you grow hops hash is somewhere around twelve weeks. Yield is around 4-6 ounces per plant.
